Summer news

We have lots going on here at PJS over the past few weeks that has definitely brightened up the team’s day.

With the extended daylight at this time of year, the construction industry gets into full swing whereas planning for land development is constant and all year round. Planning and technical challenges arise every week which our team readily embrace and enjoy getting stuck into together. We continue to work on an array of clients and projects for Richborough Estates, Linden, Peveril, Persimmon and Bovis Homes. We are delighted to be working in partnership with new clients Bellway North West and Redrow East Midlands. From Preston to Poole our growth seems to be matching our reputation for assisting with successful planning applications, land acquisitions and technical approvals for our clients. Well done to the team!  We shall be out in Nottingham this weekend to celebrate the team’s success and the completion of our 2nd year!

Working with new clients - Bellway Homes.

Thanks to the team’s outstanding dedication, innovative solutions and communication with our clients, we have started working with Bellway Homes in Somerford, Congleton. Initially assisting Richborough Estates with obtaining approvals on drainage outfalls, access strategy and ultimately land sale to Bellway, PJS are now working on the drainage and levels strategy to support the reserved matters planning application by Bellway Homes North West.

The scheme is in a prime location with 200 proposed dwellings on the site off Black Firs Lane. Topography dictates some substantial earthworks, a large length of offsite sewer and the use of a sustainable drainage systems with a large landscaped attenuation pond forming an attractive entrance feature to the development.

Successful planning approvals and growing the relationships with Bovis Homes.

We have been working closely with Bovis Homes and are delighted that they recently received planning approvals for the new residential developments at Minster Lovell in Oxfordshire (126 dwellings) and Hunts Grove, Gloucestershire (337 dwellings).

PJS supported Bovis with the acquisition of both sites. Helping to identify risk, opportunity and costs associated with infrastructure delivery all helping to inform their bid price and successful purchase.

PJS has continued to be involved with the detailed infrastructure designs having initially produced the drainage and highways related planning documents in support of the successful reserved matters planning approvals. The detailed designs involved Section 278, 38, 184 and 104 agreements as well as earthworks and foundations. All submitted for technical approvals, tender packs and to the inform construction works now underway on both sites.

New team and new space coming soon…

As part of our investment into graduate training and support of Nottingham Trent University, we are delighted to be taking on two current University students in year-long intern roles at the end of the summer.

Being part of the Alumni is important to us as a business and essential we create opportunities for further learning and career prospects for the emerging talented young people entering the industry. Managing Director, Paul Smith comments “I had the pleasure of being part of a panel of 15 professionals who took part in a series of mock interviews with the students from Trent. It is an invaluable skill as a consultant to be able to communicate confidently as well as demonstrate your knowledge of the job. I was impressed by all candidates and the team are looking forward to sharing their experience and knowledge with these two young people.” As interns they will have the opportunity to work across all sectors of the business and learn about the consultancy side of engineering during their year in the industry. Watch this space to meet the new team members later this summer.

As well as bringing new people into the business, PJS will also be moving at the end of this summer. We are currently based in Mansfield in a shared office space and now, as the team has grown, it is time for us to find our own front door and move closer to the M1. This will give us greater connectivity both via rail and road, enable the team to commute in a greener and more efficient way and bring us closer to servicing our clients too. More details to follow shortly.

Next month read about our more of our exciting project work, the office move, as well as more team updates.
