New Assistant Civil Engineer, Bailey Taberham, joins the PJS team

After a successful first year and with a promising future ahead, PJS Consulting Engineers are very pleased to introduce their newest team member, Bailey Taberham.

Bailey graduated from the University of Nottingham having been awarded a BP STEM scholarship in 2015 and over the past 3 years has completed a number of work placements in the UK. Enthusiastic about engineering, he has quickly developed skills as a CAD technician and has more recently been producing drawings relating to flood defences, sewer systems and worked on the topical HS2 project.

Hoping to explore the spectrum of work that Civil Engineering offers, Bailey says that he is excited about the projects and challenges he will be working on with the team at PJS, and is looking forward to progressing and shaping his career. Passionate about finding smart solutions and very conscientious about cost and timeframes, Bailey has already begun to appreciate the tasks faced by the civil engineering industry today and will be a great asset to the team.

Crossrail is just one of the reasons why Bailey loves Civil Engineering

From his experience so far, Bailey is most proud of being able to gain first-hand experience of the creative solutions required on the Crossrail project such as the Connaught Tunnel, now a repurposed Victorian tunnel beneath the London Docklands, which was vital to the projects progress. He describes how Paddington Station helped to develop his passion for engineering and exploring more than just one angle to a solution, saying that “the congestion of the subterranean space and the delicacy of the existing historic structures posed huge challenges and yet it was still possible to bore two large tunnels with minimal disruption which, to me, is astounding.”

What do you find most interesting about Civil Engineering?

“No two projects are the same and each come with their own array of constraints and challenges, but this is what I enjoy. The satisfaction comes when I can consider solutions and ultimately solve the problem. I am really looking forward to working with the PJS team and appreciate as a consultancy service that solutions must offer the correct balance and answer the client’s needs at the same time.”

With just two weeks under his belt, Bailey is already proving to be an integral part of the team and he sees value in considering all opinions which he believes is essential when assisting the senior team.

As a keen digital photographer, this is one Bailey that will be considering landscapes more than portraits! And we are sure he will be a great asset to the team, adding creative solutions for the future projects we have in the pipeline.

Welcome on-board Bailey!
